Philanthropy
We give girls the confidence to dream big. We inspire the female leaders of tomorrow.
We are committed to improving the lives of young girls by not only building stronger girls but stronger communities through them.
Our Mission
Gamma Phi Beta’s philanthropic mission is to provide experiences and resources that build spiritual, mental and social resiliency in girls. We do this through our philanthropic focus, Building Strong Girl, partnering with Girls on the Run and The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experienced-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. GOTR is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. In a 10-week program, girls third through eighth grade learn skills, receive mentorship, serve in a community outreach project, and end with a celebratory 5K run.
The Beta Omicron chapter supports GOTR by hosting a philanthropy week every fall with different events, such as Moonball, around campus to raise and donate approximately $1,600-$1,800 toward GOTR. Our chapter also provides opportunities to volunteer as a coach or organizer for GOTR’s 5K event every May.
National Ovarian Cancer Coalition
Brooke Haley was 23-year-old mass communications student and Gamma Phi Beta sister from Pryor, Oklahoma, who passed in 2005 after bravely battling Ovarian Cancer.
In honor of Brooke, the Beta Omicron chapter adopted the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition as its local philanthropy in her honor. Similar to the Building Strong Girls Week that is held each fall, Beta Omicron hosts NOCC Week every spring to raise awareness and money for the NOCC. Our philanthropy events, such as Pancake Palooza raise approximately $2,000 for the NOCC each year.
Our Philanthropy Chair: Payton Wolf
Serving as the philanthropy chair for Gamma Phi Beta's "Building Strong Girls" initiative is a profound honor for me. During recruitment, this philanthropy stood out as it aligns with my belief in nurturing resilient and confident women. It's more than just a cause; it's a commitment to empowering future generations.
Working hands-on with organizations like Girls On The Run is immensely rewarding, as I witness the impact we can make in shaping young girls' lives. Every effort to raise awareness on campus feels like a small contribution to a larger movement dedicated to uplifting women.
Being the philanthropy chair isn't just about organizing events; it's about embodying the spirit of "Building Strong Girls" in everything I do. This personal connection drives my passion and reminds me daily of the difference we can make when we unite with purpose and heart.
